Class Description:

With romantic and spiritual inspiration, we will create pendants and charms in various sizes using multiple materials. I will share my detailed gilded and finishing techniques while soldering a French chandelier crystal. You will learn how to securely attach vintage rhinestone embellishments and found objects from your favorite collection. We will seal spiritual images of the Madonna, or you may choose to bring your own vintage image(s) or reproduction of favorite family members, or a theme... in Ice Resin. We will apply a dark patina to bring out a vintage "old world" effect to the gilding. I will teach you how to shape, forge, work-harden, distress and manipulate heavy gauge wire to make pendants and charms of varied sizes and dimension... and yes, we will gild and embellish them.

Wow, the week has been super busy...and I am looking forward to the weekend.

Although this Gilded Madonna Assemblage Wrap Necklace (3rd in the collection) has Sold...I wanted to share  her with you.

I adore her and the assembled mix of Aquamarine, Chalcedony, Agate, AB Labradorite, Laramar, Opaline, colorful crystals, vintage rhinestone connectors, vintage rosary chain all hand wrapped with an elegant casted bronze hook front closure.

they remind me of Fall, which is just around the corner ~

A last design shared is a piece that has been on the workbench for a few months. I loved working with SKL's Iced Enamel in the Raspberry with a touch of Mica Raspberry Flakes and a sprinkling of her Copper Glitter.

"Gilded Relics" by Romancing the Bling

Sunday, June 30th 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Join me for a day of creative inspiration. We will create a beautiful pendant necklace using an Iconic image, or you may want to use a photo of your mother, grandmother, or someone special.  Using your beautiful vintage rhinestone  jewelry...together we will share in a friendly and relaxed environment creating beautiful and romantic pieces of jewelry.

Students will learn the basics of solder with a soldering iron. You will learn my "gilded" technique, as well as securely adding beautiful vintage components ~ vintage rhinestone jewels, found objects, stampings, etc. I will be teaching the use of patina to give your jewelry that "old world" vintage look.

I will teach you how to forge and work harden wire into bails, components and necklace links, as well as an attractive hook closure. Simple wire wrapping of crystals and pearls with your handmade links will add a subtle and beautiful compliment to your romantic pendant ~

6 Hour workshop: $150 ... Price includes class kit (except vintage rhinestone embellishment)

Cest La Vie ... Paris...from start to completion ~

One of a kind assemblage necklace ~ Paris

I love how this necklace turned out and thought I would take photos of the process and materials used. I hope it gives an idea what is used in creating a piece like this ~ starting with photo #1 ...


No, you are seeing correctly ~ this is a small paper box where you find wooden match sticks (discard cover and match sticks).
This is what I have used to make a small showdow box.





To reinforce this half box I have used netted plaster material ~ which is used to make a cast when a limb is broken. Dipping it in water and wrap around the box (I wrap it twice to make it strong) until it is completely covered ~ letting the box dry overnight.

Modge Podge brushed on moistened paper images and carefully placing onto the box~ drying after each step.






and now the real artistic expression and fun begins...


Layer, layering and more layers using combinations of artist chalk, crayons and two different compositions of pigment powders and a product called H20 (solid pigment using water ~ working into a paste). Between each product I brush on a coating of Gel Medium ~ more drying time between each step.

Patience ~


next wrap the decorated box and glass cover with copper foiling ~ using flux and silver solder to securely seal the box.

Embellishing with French charms, stampings, vintage rhinestone jewels - soldered to box, vintage bias tape, chunky chain ~ hand oxidize silver solder and components for a vintage cohesive look.

Very labor instensive; but so much fun to make!

Due to the drying steps for each process this piece took 3 days from start to completion ~ I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Rhinestone fluer de Lis dangles freely inside the box ~ so fun!

Ballet Romance meets Art Deco Bling ~

So much beauty encased behind French Crystal ~~~ my one of a kind hand embelished image using powder pigments, artist chalk and German glass glitter feature 3 beautiful ballerinas. Wrapped in copper foil and silver soldered ~~~ 1920's Art Deco rhinestone fur clip, a vintage rhinestone drop dangles delicately below with reproduction antique silver components, faceted opalescent quartz briolets, fresh water pearls in cream and blush pink, vintage bias tape, flower rhinestones and beautiful carved Czech crystals with sterling silver hand patina chain. The back of the pendant is also beautifully finished with soldered floral embellishments in antique silver. All components and connections have been soldered closed ~ be assured that the piece is strong and secure. Simple lobster clasp closure in sterling silver. Embelished Soldered Vintage Rhinestone Assemblage Necklace, etc...

Recent one of a kind Creations...


Inspired and deeply touched by the beautiful image of a hand painted Italian portrait ~~~ I felt the need to create a one of a kind piece to include her.

Pendant.....hand embelished by using powdered pignments and German glass glitter. Copper wrapped foil and silver soldered crystal with created bail. Hand set and individually soldered floral and grape embelishment findings ~~~ accented with a bit of vintage rhinestone bling.

Necklace.....hand wire wrapped Rainbow Agate in beautiful blues. Accented with multiple sized facted two-tone Czech crystals, abalone beads, gray pearls and vintage rhinestone rondelles. A hand oxidized rhinestone magnetic ball closure securely completes this multiple necklace beaded chain.

I have always loved images of the Madonna and Spiritual visions...

Hand embellished Madonna photo using powdered pigments and German glass glitter (to obtain the multi color glitter I meticulously hand painted the glitter using the pignmented powder with a small brush). Distressing techniques were used to age the image. Copper foil wrapped and silver soldered behind glass. Individual pewter flowers were hand soldered with vintage rhinestones and Czech Picasso Crystal accents.
Antique seam binding connected and wrapped with faceted Labadorite round and rondelle beads (beautiful sapphire blue facets that have lovely flash), vintage silvertone carved rose beads, faceted AB Czech crystals, Picasso, Czech two tone crystals with wrapped and hammered distressed wire connectors.

Definitely One of a Kind...beautiful!
